Nineteen Months

Welcome to your 18 + 19 MONTH MASH-UP!

You bark like a dog and crawl on all fours. You blow kisses, mostly to Uncle B. When we are driving and we turn around to look at you you immediately start dancing. You are a nursing addict. When it's naptime I set the napping mood in your room then walk to the living room to scoop you. When you hear my footsteps you start running like a meerkat who's spotted a predator, then climb on the sofa to "hide." When I tell you I love you, you reciprocate by kissing me. And I swoon...

It's been a whirlwind of family celebrations and visitations! Bridal showers, weddings, travel and hosting family here at home. You've had visits from Grammy T during Titi Hari's bridal shower, Grandma Deb & the Faustins for summer vacay and Abuela Grandma and GrandDan just because. You really enjoy spending time with your family and showing them all the new things you can do.

Grammy T came down early to help nurse you little sick one. Luckily you were feeling much better by the time she got here and you got to hang with her. The day before you had come down with a fever and all you wanted to do was cuddle! Auntie Val got to have some serious snuggle time with you, she was pleased. She brought you lots of goodies, your favorite being a big bag of blocks. You are loving those bad boys. I'm sure your Dad will hide them as soon as he's home.

Cousin Cal blew your mind! You had a blast watching, learning from and playing with him. He can do so much with his body, and you soaked all that older cousin knowledge and energy up! You also gave your baby cousin Blake lots of kisses. That was really sweet to see. You got to spend several days playing with Grandma Deb, and she read you stories and did nightnight bedtime for you.

Abuela Grandma and GrandDan came over to help us get ready for Auntie Ivonne's wedding trip! You and GrandDan played and they got you dressed. Mommy really appreciated the help.

You are still charming the yoga pants off of people! Your smile is so sweet and often mischievous. You have stare-offs where we see some seriously fierce attitude brewing. At least you laugh when you win. You still love to dance and groovin in the car is a daily occurrence. Your screach/squeal/scream puts Minnie Ripperton to shame--sometimes you just gotta let her rip. This cracks us up. You are so in your body and you seem free to be yourself, which makes me very happy. You do get self-conscious sometimes when you dance and other people watch you. It's sweet. Your little swagger is changing, as your pronating feet very slowly start to move toward neutral.

In 10 days you said the following words: YEAH, YES, GOOD, DUCK, DOG, TRUCK, OUTSIDE, TEETH. You tend to whisper when you say a word for the first time. I cheer loudly and wildly when you say it, to encourage your confidence! You're talking boy-boy!!!

Today you blew on your oatmeal after I did. It's spectacular to watch you learn and do. When I asked you if you were all done with your oatmeal, and if I could give the rest to Violet you shook your head "no" and asked for more. I may have found a new tactic to get you to eat!!!

You are really into walking around in my shoes. So far it's been "property" shoes and flip flops.

Spinning around in circles and practicing jumping are your favorite physical games. You laugh like Vince Masuka as you twirl around the living room. When you stop laughing, you often make fun sound effects like, 'whoa' 'woo' and 'ahhh!'

We went shopping yesterday for new shoes, and Abuela Grandma and GrandDan got you some sweet kicks!!! The shoe saleslady said your size 9.5 feet are average for a 3 year old. I couldn't believe how big your feet have gotten. Neither could AG. I've just resigned myself to the fact that you will probably be as tall as me when you're 10. And that's okay :)

It's so good to have your Daddy home. Everything is in it's right place, and the house feels so peaceful yet full of life force and love. While he was away you would ask for him every night before bed, knowing that he usually reads to you and does the "nigh nigh bedtime" routine. Our hearts explode with love with you, beautiful boy. Looking forward to the rest of our days together with eager anticipation and prideful joy in our hearts.
